The first LAA Business Meeting, in 2004, voted to make Susan's book, Addiction to Love, the conference-approved text until a replacement is written. There was another vote taken is 2010 by 2,500 members of the former LAA Message Board.

Update: It is time to take another vote regarding this decision as it is controversial to some members. Before Co-DA wrote their own book they used the books by Melodie Beattie but that was only temporary.

Until this is resolved by a group conscious, it is probably best that each meeting choose their own book. There are so many to choose from.
